Recognised leaders in the education industry, Debs and Candice have poured all of their experience and passion into developing a state of the art centre and tailored education programme.
Debs McKerchar
Debs has been shaping the lives of young children in the region for over a decade.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, and initially working with young people with disabilities at Coronet Peak, she developed a passion for teaching. She has since worked in a variety of education roles across the region, gaining valuable experience in leadership, mentoring and management.
An influential leader who sees working with children as an absolute privilege rather than a job, Debs’ vision, warmth and enthusiasm help shape the community culture at Remarkable Start.

Candice Stewart
Starting out as an early intervention teacher here in Queenstown, Candice quickly realised her innate passion and dedication for making a difference with young children.
With over a decade of experience working with a range of education philosophies, Candice has gained a solid understanding of learning strategies and techniques, enabling her to tailor her approach for each child. In 2016, her teaching abilities were recognised at the highest level when she was awarded the prestigious ASG NEiTA National Excellence in Teaching Award for making an impact in her local community.
Drawing on her wealth of experience, Candice’s passion and ability to connect with children help shape the love-of-learning culture at Remarkable Start.
